Lighthearted and giggle-filled, stories that generate more stories of times in life, rather ordinary then, but extraordinary in our present space and time.

Children’s books? No, but yes, too. They are primarily scripted to share a legacy of life in earlier times—particularly childhood—and trigger memories of (and for) our aging population. They are memory catchers! Their unique and personal memories of growing up that are begging to be recalled and valued.

Our workshops are designed to bring people together through laughter, storytelling, and gentle reflection. Whether it’s through shared memories, creative prompts, or guided conversation, participants rediscover moments from their past — sparking joy, connection, and community.

Empowering Memories Through Laughter and Storytelling

Giggle Stories celebrates the power of storytelling to connect generations, spark joy, and preserve memory. Through books, workshops, and heartfelt conversations, we help people rediscover moments from their past — ordinary then, extraordinary now.

Stories That Spark More Stories

At Giggle Stories, we envision a world where storytelling helps bridge generations, strengthens relationships, and brings light to those facing memory challenges. Through shared laughter and reflection, we hope to empower people to see the extraordinary within their own ordinary lives — and to keep those memories alive for generations to come.

About

Anne Beneteau is a retired teacher, librarian, and administrator who believes in the power of storytelling to engage the mind and heart. Her passion for history and education earned her recognition as a finalist for the Governor General’s Award for Teaching History in Canada.

She now brings that same love of learning and connection to her work with her husband of 45 years, Dennis, who is navigating life with Parkinson’s Disease. Together, their shared reminiscence of Dennis’s childhood along River Canard inspired the Tales from the Creek series — lighthearted stories that capture laughter, love, and local heritage.

To honour this meaningful journey, a portion of proceeds from book sales supports memory care through the Parkinson’s Society and Alzheimer’s Society.

Remember Together

Guided memory sessions help participants recall special moments from their lives — family traditions, favourite places, or small, joyful experiences — using storytelling, imagery, and conversation.

Capture and Cherish

With the support of our facilitators, memories are written down, recorded, or illustrated — creating lasting keepsakes for families and caregivers to treasure.

Share and Shine

Each session ends with shared laughter and storytelling. Participants are encouraged to tell their stories aloud, connecting with others and celebrating the beauty in every memory.

Our Books

Winter Skates and Summer Shenanigan editions of the Tales from the Creek series tell Dennis’ stories in short, narrative style that take you to the era. Delightful illustrations by Gaye McGee capture the imagination of a time and space that she recalls, being from the area. Together they hold the attention of our aging population as well as children! Being only a few pages in length, the stories hold attention and engage the mind. The content of the stories — outdoor skating, baseball, nature, family traditions — bring forward fond memories in others which, in turn, are shared and often elicit more laughter.

Sharing Stories

Giggle Stories began as a way to help people recall and share their life experiences — the small, tender, funny, and meaningful stories that shape who we are. Each story, told and retold, builds connection, community, and confidence.

Workshops

To recall and share the simple joys and traditions that shape our lives

Inspired by Tales from the Creek, Anne now leads workshops—helping others capture their own stories in short, heartwarming narratives that celebrate life and legacy.

Through a simple, encouraging approach developed from her years as a teacher and administrator, Anne guides participants in writing stories that blend personal history with personality and humour. These stories can stand alone or be woven together into small books of remembered joy.

Join or book a workshop to discover how your own life stories—ordinary then, extraordinary now—can continue to spark laughter, connection, and legacy for generations to come.

Reviews

"This lovely book made me smile and also brought tears to my eyes! It made me realize the importance of sharing our memories, (our own little stories), with one another. This is soothing for both the teller and the reader. I loved the simplicity, honesty and joy the stories expressed. Truly right for all age groups!"
